Taroko National Park stretches over three counties, namely Hualien County, Taichung County and Nantou County, including Taroko Gorge and Liwu River basin as well as some areas along the Central Cross-island Highway and the Suhua Highway (Suao Hualien Highway). The north region of the Taroko National Park connects with Nanhu Mountain, the east region reaches Qingshui Cliff, the south region is bounded by Qilai Mountain and Taroko Mountain, and the west region reaches the intersection of Central Mountains and Hehuan Mountain. With a total area of 93,000 hectares, it is the second largest park among the other five, and it is only next to Yushan National Park. There are many world-renowned scenic spots in Taroko National park, and most of them are located at the eastern section of the Central Cross-island Highway.
